Welcome to the Gloaming!
Whether you’re deeply into the gloaming, approaching or just entering the gloaming, there is absolutely one thing we can do. Even if we don’t know what direction we’re going or headed full steam into the gloaming years, we can take care of ourselves.
There are many ways we can take care of ourselves. I won’t go into all of them, but I want to encourage each person reading this post. Take Care of You!
At the gloaming stage, most people are not responsible for little people on a regular basis. However, if you watch your little people on a daily basis, you especially need to take good care of yourself.
Whether you see your little people daily, regularly, or not. Take Care of You!
If you don’t have little people in your life at all, Take Care of You!
Standing in the present
When I was first wandering around in the gloaming, I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted my life to be like, right now.
I decided to build some daily routines to take care of myself.
As the flight attendants on airplanes will tell you, “If you don’t take care of yourself first, you can’t take care of others.”
Maybe we’re on a plane, maybe we’re not. But one thing is for certain; if we don’t take care of ourselves, no one else will.
Why? It’s not their responsibility. We are responsible for ourselves.
Whether you have a partner or you are single at this time, you are still responsible for you.
Just the Basics
If you’re like me, long lists are not helpful. They can be overwhelming and leave you in a state of confusion, exhaustion, or feeling like, “Hell, no!”
So, no list here. Right now, we’re just going to talk about doing something basic.
Looking Back at the Past
When times are tough, it can be very difficult to take care of yourself.
If you’re feeling down, stressed, etc. it can seem like too much work to even just take a shower or a bath.
When I started to build a daily routine of self care, I tried something my daughter had told me about. I knew of the concept, but I hadn’t heard of the term, habit stacking.
To clarify, habit stacking is starting with one or two tasks, or habits, and building onto that when you’re ready.
So, I started with just washing my face and brushing my teeth in the morning and before I went to bed, regularly.
I was amazed at how refreshing it made me feel. Feeling more ready for the day, it was a bit easier to look at what else I wanted to do.
Washing my face and brushing my teeth at night helped me feel ready for bed and not quite so exhausted.
I began this morning and evening routine with a simple set of products. That’s what I want to share with you today.
If you have skin sensitivities and allergies, like I do, you want something simple and gentle.
DERMA-E: “Ethical Beauty. Clean, effective and dermatologist recommended, we are committed to your skin health, well being and the natural environment. That’s the DERMA-E difference.”
Sounds great, right?
I wanted just a simple face wash, moisturizer, and eye cream to cover the basics of skin care. Too many products, and I just wanted to forget the whole process.
Starting simple was very helpful to me.
Face Wash: DERMA-E Anti-Wrinkle Cleanser with Vitamin A and Glycolic Acid.
“Start fresh. This energizing, sulfate-free formula washes away dirt, oil, makeup and impurities, leaving skin feeling invigorated.”
Face Moisturizer: DERMA-E Anti-Wrinkle Renewal Cream.
“A rich, skin-renewing cream that visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Retinol & Bakuchiol refine skin tone and texture while Vitamin E defends against environmental aggressors, leaving skin looking youthful and radiant.”
Eye Cream: DERMA-E Hydrating Eye Cream, Hyaluronic Acid & Green Tea.
“This quick-absorbing fragrance-free eye cream contains hydrating Hyaluronic Acid, antioxidant-rich Green Tea, along with nourishing Vitamins A, C and E for up to 72 hours of hydration, promoting younger-looking skin.”
All products have a “How to use” instruction on the product.
That’s it. That’s all I currently use. Quick, easy, clean and refreshing.
Having not done Before & After pictures, I have no proof of less wrinkles or reduction of any wrinkles I already had. But that’s okay! Wrinkles are a part of life. One might go so far as to say, “Hey! I earned every one of those wrinkles.”
Moving Forward Without Fear
Less wrinkles or not, I accept the wrinkles I do have. After all, I earned them, lol. I’m also not willing to go to the work and expense of trying all the brands to prove their claims, or not, of whether they remove, reduce, or prevent wrinkles.
Obviously, there are many products out there varying in quality, price and availability.
I have used this line for many years because they work great for me and the price doesn’t break the bank.
Conclusion
Whatever you do, whatever product you use, or not, Take Care of You!
Creating a morning and evening routine with these three products gave me a place to start taking care of myself at a time when there were so many overwhelming feelings and situations.
Just to be clear, I’m not condemning any products here. If you have something you already use and love, great!
Although there are product recommendations in this post, the point of the post isn’t to tell you that you should use these products. Only, that this is what I like, use and what works for me.
The focus of each post is always on You. This post in particular is focused on Taking Care of You!
Until next time, Take Care of You!
All the best to you!
